In a significant development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has been authorized by the Grand Jirga to engage in negotiations aimed at achieving a peaceful solution to KP’s issues. The meeting, held on October 10, 2024, at CM House in Peshawar, was attended by prominent leaders, including KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Federal Minister Amir Muqam.
This high-level discussion took place following the announcement of a three-day Pashtoon Qaumi Jirga by the banned Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), which has heightened tensions in the province.
New Jirga to Focus on Peaceful Resolution of KP’s Political Crisis
The Grand Jirga authorized CM Gandapur to lead a newly-formed jirga that will engage with dissenting groups to find an amicable solution to the ongoing political and security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the declaration, the participants expressed their confidence in CM Gandapur’s leadership, allowing him full authority to negotiate and formulate a strategy for peace.
